By the time you are reading this, I'll be on the road. Finally!
It's a 450 mile drive to Springfield and I've found a way to stretch that into a two-day trip. I'm stopping off to visit an old friend along the way but I'll be in Springfield around noon on Tuesday.
If you are going to FGS and you aren't already following the FGS Conference News Blog then you don't know what you are missing. Actually even if you aren't going to FGS but would like to see how a blog can be used to promote a conference, you should really take a look. It seems like the conference organizers have thought of everything and they've shared it. You will find everything from sessions, speakers, vendors and social events to research opportunities, restaurants and sightseeing and much, much more.
News will be pouring out of Springfield. Be sure to check out the Social Media Policy to find out what is acceptable practice. FGS should be big on Twitter (here's hoping the AT&T signal is better in the Prairie Capital Convention Center than it was in Charleston for NGS). The official Twitter hashtag is #fgs2011. If you aren't a Twitter user, you can still follow along from the FGS website or the Conference Media Center.
And if you are a blogger, don't forget the GeneaBloggers Meet-up on Thursday evening.
I'm outta here! Hope to see you in Springfield.
Disclosure: I am an Official Blogger for FGS 2011.
