Great photo, Linda. The dogs look ready to go.
This picture was converted from a negative using a scanner. My aunt had the negative in a box of pictures and I could tell it was 2 people with dogs so figured one of them had to be my dad (David).
I like your thinking....and I love beagles!
Oh, but these are American Foxhounds - they look similar to beagles but are bigger and have longer legs.
Did your father raise foxhounds? Did he hunt with the hounds? I'm trying to see how the dogs are attached to the lead. I can see the line from the young man on the right to the two dogs on the right, but then no lead on the dogs on the left. (Not that it's important.) It looks like the scanner did an excellent job with the negative!
Nancy, he had foxhounds & hunted when he was a teenager but I guess sold them before he left home. Then in late 50's/early 60's he got back into it - he bought some and raised some. Looking at the larger picture on my computer, it appears that chain is attached to all 4 dogs. BTW, in case anyone isn't familiar with fox hunting, the hunters don't kill the foxes. The dogs just chase them and the hunters sit around a campfire discussing (arguing about) which dog in in the lead.
